A submariner’s submariner.   East Coast, West Coast, Fast Attack, Boomers.   Missions of national significance in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic. Blue Nose. Golden Shellback.  Deputy Commandant of Midshipmen, United States Naval Academy (Class of ’98).  President of his Class.  Now one of the several 2026 Presidential Leadership Scholars.

I met Dave in synagogue when he was a Midshipman (and I was a LCDR) 30 years ago.   He’s been a role model for a generation of Jewish Naval Officers ever since, and was the guest speaker at our Friends of the Jewish Chapel-sponsored Baccalaureate three years ago.  As Deputy Commandant, one of the most senior Jewish Naval Officers, if not the most senior, in the history of the USNA leadership upper echelon chain-of-command.

Just the right amount of funny sea stories and heartfelt love for his great family during the superb retirement ceremony!
